the badass that is Jimmy Carter

Republicans are men of narrow vision, who are afraid of the future.” – Jimmy Carter

Damn straight.

Republicans, will any of you give me concrete reasons why I should vote for you without a gun behind my back at the voting booth? I’ve spoken about this before, and I’m rather partial to that piece. I’ve gone into how Republicans haven’t been the party of fiscal responsibility for decades: economy-is-always-better-under-democrats-L-9b7JPARepublicans don’t just hate the Affordable Care Act. They opposed social security and medicare/medicaid as well. Personally, I want the name “Obamacare” to stick to the law. That way, in 20 years, the people who have it will be constantly reminded who gave it to them. Healthcare recipients will say, “Thanks, Obama,” and not sarcastically.

And then there’s social issues. Have Republicans ever been on the right side of history when it comes to giving rights to more people? Take notes, conservatives. The main reason you’re losing young voters is because, even if they aren’t fully steeped in economic or foreign policy, they can see your stance on gay rights, voting rights, and, gawdhelpus, even contraception. I think the reason Republicans clashed with Pope Francis over his comments on capitalism was because Republicans realize that the Catholic church, of all entities, has a better chance of entering the 21st century than the same old conservative policies from Reagan’s era.
