ambiguity is what emotions are all about…but they shouldn’t be

We smile at strangers
because it’s ambiguous. That smile could mean everything
and nothing. We are not responsible
for them.

We don’t smile at people we know and love
once we begin to fear that
our smile is ambiguous to them, too.
